Vincent van Gogh's desire to create did not arise immediately. At the age of 27, after a long wandering and search for his own "self," the young man realized that he wanted to paint. Over the course of ten years of work, he created more than two thousand paintings, documenting his artistic journey in his letters to his brother Theo.

Their correspondence has become a treasure of the epistolary genre and is known no less than the artist's paintings themselves. The brothers not only discussed affairs but also argued, sharing views on creativity and important events in their lives. In these lines, there is Van Gogh's heartfelt confession about the essence of creativity, the meaning of human existence, and love for people.

This edition collects the letters and original sketches of the artist addressed to his brother, which continue to inspire people to this day.
