It happened in 1975, and then again – eleven years later. And it will happen again in our time – soon, very soon… Both girls killed in different decades were naked, tied up, and covered with unshorn sheepskin. Their faces were hidden by ritual bull masks. On their backs – cuts in the shape of ancient ornaments for decorating bread. The cause of death is the same – a gaping wound in the throat. And the time is the same – the night of November 2, the Night of the Dead. The murders have never been solved. And even the identities of the victims remain unknown. Inspector Moreno Barrelli, literally obsessed with these cases, has devoted his whole life to them, studying ancient Sardinian rituals in search of a key to the riddle. To no avail. And now, with the disappearance of young Dolores Murdja, he is sure – the sacrifice will repeat. But Barrelli himself can do nothing – a deadly illness has left him with neither strength nor time. And everyone around considers his obsession madness. He needs to find someone who will believe him and save Dolores as soon as possible…
