Board game - Horizons of the Spirit Island

In your hands lies incredible power, for you are nature itself. As the spirits of a peaceful island far from civilization, you maintain peace and order in these lands. The local tribes live in harmony with you, but… Not all humans are so respectful.

Strange flags are appearing on the horizon: the ships of colonizers are approaching your island! The invaders from the distant continent will not take into account either you or the local inhabitants. Well… They've brought it upon themselves! It's time to drive the arrogant colonists from your lands! 

About the game:

"Horizons of the Spirit Island" is a simplified version of the famous cooperative game "Spirit Island". This is a completely standalone game, where you will take on the roles of spirits fighting against bold invaders.

The core gameplay remains unchanged, but many elements have been simplified so that newcomers can understand the game without problems. At the same time, the tactical depth of the game is not compromised: it is still the beloved "Spirit Island", just more friendly for those unfamiliar with such complex and deep board games.

Additionally, in "Horizons", you will find a quick start guide – mastering "Spirit Island" has never been so easy!

Furthermore, some components of "Horizons" are compatible with the original "Spirit Island" – for instance, the spirit boards which will make the already rich gameplay even more interesting.

Each player takes on the role of one of the spirits responsible for specific forces of nature. Your common goal in the game is to deal with the uninvited colonizers. You will need to use your unique abilities, strengthen the island, and assist the Dahan. However, at the beginning of the game, the spirits are not very strong; you will gain your full power throughout the game.

Since the game is cooperative, the invaders are controlled by the board game itself, and players must fight against the settlements the colonizers are building in different corners of the island, ultimately driving them off the island. You can lose if the colonizers defile the island too much, if one of the player spirits is destroyed, or if the island is conquered.

How to play?

First, each player chooses a suitable spirit. Each spirit differs in difficulty level and unique abilities. Players form the map of the island, divided into sectors. The game will take place on these sectors.

Each turn can be divided into phases:
- Spirit Phase – during this phase, spirits can grow by performing a series of actions; they can gain energy and spend it to play ability cards
- Fast Power Phase – the effects of fast power cards are applied simultaneously
- Invader Phase – during this phase, invaders rampage and attempt to conquer the island, while spirits resist this. The island can be defiled, but the invaders can also engage in ravaging the island, building, or scouting. Skirmishes occur between colonizers and Dahan
- Slow Power Phase – the effects of slow power cards are applied simultaneously
- Time Flow – preparation time for the next round

During the game, spirits must strive to raise the level of Fear of the enemy as much as possible.

Who won?

All players win or lose together, so each player must make a maximum contribution to the common goal.

The invaders start the game at a minimal Fear level; they are completely unafraid of the island and have never even heard of the spirits. The higher the Fear level, the more opportunities you have and the closer you are to victory. Fear increases through special abilities, as well as by destroying settlements and cities. Another way to win is to fulfill the victory condition of the scenario.

Players lose in three cases: if the invaders have defiled the island too much, if at least one spirit was forgotten (defeated), or if too much time has passed and the invaders have managed to colonize the entire island.
