Architecture of the Renaissance. Italy

The book by the famous St. Petersburg art historian, architecture expert, and Doctor of Arts V. G. Lisovsky is the first and currently the only publication in Russian that systematically presents the history of Italian architecture from the Pre-Renaissance period to the Late Renaissance. The reader is offered a broad panorama of Italian architecture from the 14th to the 16th centuries: descriptions and stylistic analyses of hundreds of monuments are provided, along with their urban planning role and connections to significant historical events and figures, as well as an examination of the works of great masters such as Brunelleschi, Alberti, Bramante, Raphael, Michelangelo, Vignola, and Palladio. The author expresses his own views on the legacy of the great era, the traditions of which remain alive today. The book is addressed to both specialists and art enthusiasts. It can be useful as a textbook and as a guide during trips to Italy.
