This... summer promised to be hot, long, and boring. Four friends — Zhan, Grey, Toka, and Yurka — planned to spend it in the city. Riding bikes, playing video games, eating ice cream and… they were not prepared for an encounter with deadly danger. But the birds disappeared from the yard and the park. Cats started to go missing from apartments. A large and fearsome stray dog had terrible wounds on its side… It seems that something terrifying is lurking nearby. It wants to eat, it is hunting. Ready or not — the boys will try to find the monster.

Varya was so happy about moving into a new apartment! It seemed that this place was just made for her and her mom. Neither the surprisingly low price nor the strange landlord bothered her. And even if it was the first floor, she would have her own room, and she could choose the wallpaper and curtains herself — especially since they immediately threw away the old drapes. And out the window, the yard became visible. At first glance, there was nothing special about it, but on closer inspection — nothing ordinary. It turned out that getting there, just walking around the building, was impossible. There lived... not quite humans. And among them — one real monster. It's a pity that Varya realized this too late.

Oleg Kozhin is a laureate of the awards «Master of Horrors», «Devil's Dozen», and others. The story «Dragon Summer» made it to the shortlist of the all-Russian award «Kniguru». The author lives in Petrozavodsk.
