Varya was so happy about moving to a new apartment! It seemed that this place was just made for her and her mom. Neither the surprisingly low price nor the strange landlord bothered her. And even though it's on the first floor, she would have her own room, and she would choose the wallpaper and curtains herself — especially since they immediately threw away the old curtains. And out the window, the yard came into view. At first glance, there was nothing special about it, but at second glance — nothing ordinary. Getting there by simply walking around the house turned out to be impossible. The residents there... were not quite human. And among them — one real monster. It's a pity that Varya realized this too late.

Oleg Kozhin is a laureate of the 'Masters of Horror' and 'Devil's Dozen' awards, among others. The story 'Dragon Summer' made it to the shortlist of the all-Russian 'Kniguru' award. The author lives in Petrozavodsk.
