The artist Asle lives in Dyugyu. He mainly communicates only with his neighbor, a bachelor fisherman named Asleik. Occasionally, he has conversations with another artist, struggling with alcoholism, who is also named Asle. Both Asles are friends and, in a sense, represent two versions of the same life.
