The Divine Left Movement

The work of the French sociologist, cultural theorist, and postmodern philosopher Jean Baudrillard 1929—2007 presents an analysis of the political landscape in the context of mass media culture, electronic communications, and technological development, using the example of political life in France from 1977 to 1984. Essentially, it is the theory of simulacra in the way it acts in the political sphere, when parties essentially no longer compete with each other in an ideological sense, politicians turn their speeches into well-calculated performances, and society prefers spectacle over real governance.
