Mikhail Yurievich Lermontov (1814—1841) — one of the most revered and beloved Russian poets and writers. During his lifetime, Lermontov was published very little: he was characterized by extreme exactness and rigor towards his work. For ten years he wrote poems, epics, dramas, and prose before deciding to compile a small collection. All his works are marked by a combination of simplicity and elevation, naturalness and originality, his ability to objectively show the characters of heroes, revealing one character through the perception of another, continues to impress both readers and critics to this day.
