Ryūnosuke Akutagawa (1892-1927) — a writer considered one of the most significant authors of 20th century Japanese literature. The collection includes both stories that brought Akutagawa worldwide fame (for example, «Rashōmon,» which served as the basis for the Oscar-winning film... by Kurosawa, and «The Spider's Thread,» adapted into the anime anthology «Classic Tales») and lesser-known stories to the Western reader that carry features of national uniqueness.
