Blood Wedding. Yerma. The House of Bernarda Alba in Spanish

Federico Garcia Lorca is a great Spanish poet and playwright, a reformer of Spanish theater. The plays "Blood Wedding," "Yerma," and "The House of Bernarda Alba" form a dramatic trilogy about the Spanish land, "about the fierce struggle of passions"... and the crash of women's hopes, the main characters of all three works. Andalusia is a land not only of shady gardens, vineyards, and olive groves, but also of barren steppes and rocky deserts. The motif of marriage in the tragedies is intertwined with the themes of land, fertility, and social equality.
Each of the characters in the play "Blood Wedding" makes a decisive choice. Leonardo and the Bride choose love and freedom — and the horse rushes them towards the abyss. The Mother organizes the chase, realizing that she is sending her son to meet his doom. Blood will be shed by the river, but love will prove stronger than death.
