Blood Wedding. Lorquian Trilogy

Federico Garcia Lorca — a great Spanish poet and playwright, a reformer of Spanish theater. The plays «Blood Wedding», «Yerma» and «The House of Bernarda Alba» — a dramatic trilogy about Spanish soil, «about the burning confrontation of passions» and... the ruin of the hopes of women, the main heroines of all three works. Andalusia — a land not only of shady gardens, vineyards, and olive groves, but also an area of barren steppes and rocky deserts. The motif of marriage in the tragedies ties in with the themes of land, fertility, and social equality.
Each of the characters in the play «Blood Wedding» makes a decisive choice. Leonardo and the Bride choose love and freedom — and the horse rushes them to the abyss. The Mother arranges the pursuit, realizing that she sends her son to meet death. Blood will be shed on the riverbank, but love will prove stronger than death.
