War and Peace. Volume III-IV

Writing about the plot of the epic novel is an adventurous endeavor. There are epic chances not to fit into a limited number of lines. Therefore, let us describe «War and Peace» like physicists, not poets. After all, physicists are concise even when talking about the Universe. So, Kutuzov and Napoleon are two magnetic poles. Let the individual lines of force in the space between them represent the characters of the novel. There are 569 of them. This number includes all classes of society, all ages and personalities; the author analyzes their gestures, facial expressions, and even thoughts. And we will agree to consider the overall magnetic field as the people, or, depending on its manifestation in the novel, the crowd. All this wonderful physics interacts and lives within the volume of one book, but always offers new details to the observer, as if he were closely examining things and seeing atoms behind molecules, and behind them - elementary particles. And then he would piece together what he saw into a general picture of the world and seem to feel the strange magnetism - but not with instruments, rather with the very soul.
