Focus. Achieving Priority Goals

Many people live in constant time pressure and even take pride in being able to solve a problem that usually requires several months of work in just a few hours. But isn’t it easier to take care of everything in advance and plan one’s life? Stephen R. Covey suggests dividing all tasks into four groups: urgent and important; not urgent and important; urgent but not important; and finally, not urgent and not important. Which group of tasks should we focus our efforts on? As a rule, most people immediately answer: the first, i.e., the «important and urgent», but this is an incorrect choice. If a person focuses only on such tasks, they will face stress, exhaustion, and a perpetual rush.
