Payback

Mississippi, 1946. Pete Banning was the hero of the town of Clanton, the ideal Southerner – a war veteran, a faithful husband, a loving father of two, a believing Christian, a successful farmer, a good neighbor. But one autumn morning, Pete Banning woke up early, came to town… and cold-bloodedly murdered the parish priest Dexter Bell. And the only thing he says during police interrogations and to his lawyer is: I have nothing to say. Banning's defense attorney realizes: the veteran is indeed ready to go to the electric chair rather than explain the reason that drove him to commit the crime.
