There have always been close two-way ties between the world of the dead and the world of the living. Zoroastrian priests used drugs to send their envoys to the afterlife. The navigators Odysseus and Brendan reached it on their ships. Some travelers, like Dante Alighieri, left detailed travel notes. Archaeology has also contributed to the study of the afterlife.

Olga Kolobova and Valery Ivanov, writing under the common pseudonym Oleg Ivyk, worked for several years in archaeological expeditions in southern Russia. Constantly interacting with the afterlife, they asked themselves: what are its political history, culture, geography, flora, and fauna?.. As a result of their research, this book was created. It provides a brief historical and geographical overview of the largest states of the afterlife from ancient times to the present day.
