The Iron King

The reading public knows Maurice Druon primarily for the saga «The Accursed Kings», which revealed the dark secrets of the Middle Ages. Behind each work in the cycle was painstaking research in the National Archive, studying documents written in archaic French or Latin. This series of historical frescoes was opened by the novel «The Iron King». The Grand Master of the Knights Templar, Jacques de Molay, as he ascended the pyre on March 18, 1314, cursed his executioners – Pope Clement V, King Philip the Fair, his advisor Guillaume de Nogaret, and all their descendants to the thirteenth generation. The first stroke of fate – the accusation of the king's daughters-in-law of infidelity – did not delay in following. But no one yet knows what misfortunes the future holds for the Iron King…
