Dungeons & Dragons. Starter Set
Dungeons, treasures, dragons. Worlds that exist only in your imagination. Heroes whose fates are decided by the roll of a die. This is D&D — the legendary role-playing game that started the entire tabletop RPG industry.
«Dungeons & Dragons. Starter Set» — your first step into a world where the main component of the game is imagination. There is no fixed board and rigid scenarios. Instead, it's a living adventure created right at the table by the players and the Dungeon Master. You have surely seen heroes playing D&D in «Stranger Things», «The Big Bang Theory», or «Gravity Falls». Now you can try it yourself.
What is D&D?
Dungeons & Dragons is a tabletop role-playing game created in 1974 and has gone through many editions. The action takes place in a classic fantasy world: medieval times, magic, elves and dwarves, and of course, dragons.
Each player creates a character — a warrior, a wizard, a rogue, a cleric — and plays their role in the adventure. One person assumes the role of the Dungeon Master: they guide the plot, manage monsters and non-player characters, describe the world, and respond to the players' actions.
The system uses dice to resolve uncertainty. Want to jump across a chasm? Roll the die. Convince the guard to let you through? Roll the die. Strike a goblin with your sword? Roll the die. The higher the result (considering the character's attributes), the better the outcome.
How does it work?
This set already contains a ready-made adventure titled «Lost Mine of Phandelver» and five pre-made characters. The Master reads the adventure book, describes the situation to the players, and they decide what to do. A goblin jumps out on the road? You can attack, observe, try to talk, or follow it to its lair. Any option that comes to mind is permissible — where it leads depends on the dice and the imagination of the Master.
Characters have attributes: strength, dexterity, constitution, intelligence, wisdom, charisma. These values affect the dice rolls and determine what the character excels at. As they travel, heroes gain experience and level up, unlocking new abilities.
Games in D&D last a long time — from a few hours to several evenings. The adventure from the starter set is designed for multiple sessions. Progress is saved between games.
Why is the starter set the right choice?
Everything you need to start is in one box. Brief rules, a ready-made adventure, five characters, a set of dice. You don't need to buy anything else to start playing.
An adventure for beginners. «Lost Mine of Phandelver» is a classic module that has been tested by thousands of gaming tables. It teaches both players and the Master the basics of the system through practice.
The fifth edition. The most popular and accessible version of D&D. The rules are simple enough to understand in an evening, but deep enough for long campaigns.
A path to more. If you like it — you can buy the Player's Handbook to create your own characters, the Dungeon Master's Guide to run your own campaigns, the Monster Manual to expand the bestiary.
Who is this game for?

For anyone who wants to try role-playing games but doesn't know where to start. This is the very first step — that leads to years-long campaigns and friendships between players.
