Constructivist Epistemology

The book reveals the content of a new epistemological paradigm — the constructivist theory of scientific knowledge. It serves as an alternative to three classical epistemological concepts: materialist (scientific knowledge as an adequate «reflection» of objective reality), empiricist (scientific knowledge as the fixation and generalization of observational and experimental data), and aprioristic (scientific knowledge as the «unpacking» by consciousness of the content of its inherently inherent general principles and their subsequent application to the organization of any experience and the interpretation of its results). According to the constructivist paradigm, scientific knowledge is the activity of scientists in designing and constructing a maximally defined cognitive reality, its evidential description, and subsequent application in assessing objective reality during practical interaction with it. The results of constructive cognitive activity are accepted in science as universally significant based on the consensus of the disciplinary scientific community, thereby demonstrating the social and historical nature of scientific knowledge.
