California, Sierra Nevada. Luther Opoku, the sheriff of a sleepy little town in the California mountains, struggles with petty crimes and a constant lack of personnel. But one morning, a phone call changes everything. A woman has died under mysterious circumstances. An accident? Murder? The investigation leads Luther to an underground research center run by a powerful corporation from Silicon Valley. From there, Luther emerges not into his world, but into a very similar yet different one. There, his deceased wife is alive, his colleagues are waiting for him to return from vacation, and the main thing is to not encounter himself.
