Jellyfish Have No Ears

Louisa is a modern Frenchwoman; she goes to work, meets friends, and falls in love. Additionally, she has been hard of hearing since birth: she has to read lips, piecing together fragments of speech that her hearing aid does not... catch. This feature is the source of Louisa's unique relationship with a world full of blurred images and poetic shadows that she cherishes. Until one day she finds herself faced with a choice: to get a cochlear implant that will allow her to hear almost like everyone else, or to preserve her individuality at the risk of losing her hearing completely. The girl, who has always felt "not deaf enough to join the deaf community, and not hearing enough to live a full life in the hearing world," is afraid of making the wrong decision and sinks deeper into depression—and into silence—each day.
