Taking as a basis the concept of "post-Europe" by Czech phenomenologist Jan Patocka, who was the first to suggest that after World War II Europe ceased to be a center-forming force, in his new work Hong Kong philosopher Yuk Hui... addresses the problem of "overcoming the modern," around which the Kyoto School was formed a hundred years ago in Japan. Nishida Kitaro, Nishitani Keiji, and the representative of new Confucianism Mou Zongsan did not reject Western philosophy but sought new paths for thinking in the context of the crisis that engulfed Europe. Instead of dreaming of the impossible overcoming of Heideggerian Heimatlosigkeit, "Post-Europe" offers a sketch of thinking that, realizing its "rootlessness," seeks to find a new form, not by neutralizing differences but through individuation aimed at overcoming the oppositions between logos and technē, East and West, home and homelessness.
