The war and separation are behind. Tatiana and Alexander, who met in Leningrad in '41 and then parted for many years, are together again. But where is the former happiness? Didn't they prove to each other that their love is... stronger than the evil of the world? They have a wonderful son, and they live in the country they chose themselves. However, both cannot overcome the alienation that divides them. The path to each other turns out to be thorny; in Cold War-era America, fear and distrust threaten their family. Tatiana and Alexander move from state to state, finding no refuge, like a tumbleweed without roots. Will they be able to find a true home in post-war America? Or will the ghosts of the past reach them to overshadow even the fate of their firstborn?
«Summer Garden» — the concluding novel of the trilogy by Polina Simonis, an American writer born in the Soviet Union in 1963, who left for the USA with her family ten years later. Many years later, Polina returned to Russia to find materials for her book and to go through the heavy trials that befell her characters.
The novel is released in a new translation.
