Funny Stories (Histoires pour rire) - in French

The collection "Funny Stories" presents to the reader various facets of the French humorous tradition, from everyday and historical anecdotes to ironic compositions by famous philosophers and excerpts from classical literature (Voltaire, F. Rabelais, Molière, A. Dode, etc.). The texts... are built on elementary grammatical material, making the book suitable for both high school students and adults beginning to learn French. The dictionary contains most of the words found in the texts, except for borrowings that are understandable to the Russian reader without translation (centime, litre, critique, etc.).
For polysemous words, only the meanings found in the book are indicated.
The page footnotes provide translations of idioms and the most complex grammatical constructions.
The book is designed for independent reading but can also be used in French language classes.
