"Horror of Arkham. Third Edition" is a new edition of the world-famous cooperative adventure based on Lovecraft's mad myths. The game is being released a damn dozen years after the previous installment, which is very symbolic… A danger once again looms over Arkham (and indeed the whole world). Horrific creatures that usually dwell outside our time and space are creeping into our world. So mystical events, encounters with the supernatural, battles with monsters, journeys through other worlds, confrontations with the Ancient Ones, and other damn things await you again!
The game itself has greatly transformed and represents an improved and reworked version of the game with new mechanics. The first thing that catches your eye is the modular board, which makes the game more compact, variable, and easier to use. The board consists of area and street tiles that connect various locations.
 
Now the game offers four scenarios, each with its own Ancient One and game board. You will be able to challenge Cthulhu, Azathoth, Hastur, and Shub-Niggurath, whose power in the material world will increase as the game progresses and due to the detectives' failures. To win, you still need to gather clues, close gates, and destroy monsters, but now each scenario offers its own victory conditions that are initially unknown to players. The scenarios are arranged in such a way that each adventure will differ from the previous one.
Each detective you will play as is unique, having their own story, motive, and set of characteristics, both primary (stamina and sanity) and secondary (observance, strength, will, etc.). By the way, unlike the previous version, here you can choose your suitable starting equipment.
How to play?
The game proceeds in rounds, and the rounds are divided into phases. Players decide who and in what order takes turns.
- Action phase – each player can take two different actions. This can be movement, gaining resources, attacking a monster and dodging it, trading with other players, exploring a location, and other actions.
- Monster phase – monsters activate, attack players, or prepare for the next turns.
- Contact phase – investigators play contact cards, which are various events that happen to them.
- Myth phase – investigators draw two tokens, which have a strong influence on the game. New monsters, clues, tokens, etc. may appear in the game.
All checks are resolved by rolling dice, as usual. Thus, turn by turn, players find themselves in troubles and try to get out of them while investigating the scenario.
 
"Horror of Arkham" is a fully cooperative game, so all players win or lose together. To win, you will need to fulfill a series of conditions that depend on the scenario, but initially, they are not obvious – players will have to conduct their own investigation and come to a conclusion, or perish disgracefully in the depths of wild terror.
