In this last collection of essays published during Susan Sontag's lifetime, more than forty texts written and published from 1982 to 2001 are included. It presents a series of seemingly disparate critical works united in three sections: «Reading», where Sontag... asserts new literary canons — the works of Machado de Assis and Robert Walser; «Gaze», in which the writer offers insightful and expressive commentary on photography and cinema; and «There and Here» — a series of notes devoted to reflections on her own creative journey. However, as one reads, Sontag's texts, invariably emotional and lyrical, come together to form a cohesive picture of her unique vision of the world of art and her place within it.
