Nicholas I. The Last Knight of Europe

The name of Nicholas I is associated by most readers with the suppression of the uprising on Senate Square and the subsequent trial of the Decembrists. The dominance of the old tradition in the consciousness of society painted the figure of the emperor exclusively in dark tones. Meanwhile, the thirty-year era of Nicholas I is seen today as one of the most peaceful periods in the history of Russia, a true Russian Empire - a time of absolute power of the Russian Empire, which, after victories in the Napoleonic Wars, continued to assert itself on the international stage in its new status as a superpower. It was in the era of "Nicholas despotism" that A.S. Pushkin, M.Yu. Lermontov, and N.V. Gogol created their best works. It was also during these years that progressive laws were enacted that qualitatively improved the situation of the peasants, stimulating an increase in Russia's population. Unbiased researchers have long concluded that they are witnessing a truly great reign, but they have only dared to speak of it now.
The proposed book is dedicated to the youth of Nicholas I and begins a detailed account of his many years of rule. The German Chancellor O. von Bismarck referred to the Russian tsar as the "Last Knight of Europe." This characterization is more than suitable for describing the very first steps of the young sovereign and explains much about the fateful events of December 14, 1825.
