The Merchant and the Parrot. Eastern Stories as Instruments of Psychotherapy

In the book by the German physician-psychotherapist and founder of positive (from Latin positum — having a place) psychotherapy N. Pezeshkian, about a hundred Eastern stories are collected, accompanied by examples from psychotherapeutic practice. Along with extraordinary interest, poetic quality,... and vividness of presentation, the stories of the East contain something unexpected and unforeseen. The reader will feel how a different way of thinking, previously perceived as unfamiliar, suddenly becomes close and understandable. The author considers such a change in perspective the most important function of Eastern stories and hopes that readers will understand how captivating it can be to look anew at familiar and well-known things.
