The Mystery of Lady Audley

Returning home after three years in the Australian gold mines, George Talboys discovers that his beautiful wife Helen has passed away unexpectedly. Trying to cope with his grief, George accepts an invitation from his friend Robert to visit the estate of his uncle - the wealthy and respectable Lord Audley, who has recently married a young governess. However, upon arriving at the estate and seeing a portrait of the newly minted Lady Audley, George falls into a nervous state, and the next morning he disappears without a trace. Robert begins to suspect that George's disappearance is somehow connected to the new Lady Audley. But what is the bride hiding?
