The Goat Hurries into the Forest

A small Bashkir town, the late 90s. Lesya, nicknamed Tatar, studies at a culinary school, writes a novel about a lady-in-waiting and palace intrigues, and is absorbed in Balzac.

She hides in books from the reality in which her mother is in prison, her father is absent, and her two grandmothers, Lyuska and Khayataka, would happily cast a spell on each other.

But trying to discern literary plots in ordinary life, Lesya unwittingly gets drawn into a dangerous story. "The Goat Hurries into the Forest" is a touching, funny, and painfully relatable tale about an unfulfilled childhood, which will appeal to fans of Ian McEwan's novel "Atonement" and the series "The Boy's Word".
