Japan, Christmas 1983. The wealthy industrialist Kodzaburo Hamamoto has gathered friends and acquaintances in his mansion. The guests are amazed by his house – a whimsical structure with numerous rooms, sloped floors, and staircases leading to seemingly nowhere, with a ‘tilting’ high tower reminiscent of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. They all marvel at the owner’s imagination and prepare to joyfully celebrate Christmas. But their expectations are not destined to come true. Because on Christmas Eve, a murder takes place in the house. The chauffeur of one of the invitees is killed by a knife strike. The urgently called police are completely bewildered.
