A multi-faceted, high-stakes novel. The main character is an officer of the Russian General Staff who becomes a spy and, by the will of fate, finds himself witnessing the political intrigues of imperialist circles interested in unleashing World War I. The reader will not be left indifferent by the vivid image of the hero, for whom honor, duty, and patriotic service to the Fatherland are above all else.
