A special success came with her novel «Jane Eyre», which remains one of the most popular works of the 19th century. This edition includes two equally captivating novels by Charlotte Bronte: «Shirley» and «The Town». The novel «Shirley», published in 1849, immediately garnered success. It tells the story of two very different friends: Caroline, a sweet dreamy girl from a clerical family, and the brilliant, strong-willed aristocrat Shirley. Published in 1853, «The Town» was written during a difficult period for the author, overshadowed by the untimely death of her brother and both sisters, Emily and Anne. Its main character, Lucy Snow, seeking independence, looks for a position as a teacher in a boarding school for noble young ladies located in a small town.
