"Scarlet Pimpernel" is a novel by British writer of Hungarian descent Baroness Emma Orczy, written based on her own play from 1903. It tells the story of the Englishman Sir Percy Blakeney, who during the Great French Revolution, hiding under the guise of a carefree dandy, saves French aristocrats from the guillotine and smuggles them to England.
