Coventry

Rachel Cusk (born 1967) is a Canadian-British writer, author of the genre-defying trilogy "Outline" and a winner of many literary awards. "Coventry" is a collection of magazine articles and book introductions written by Cusk between 2009 and 2019. The title comes from an essay of the same name, in which the writer reflects on the English expression "to send someone to Coventry" — that is, to cast into oblivion and silence — and the perceived alienation she felt from her parents. The collection includes essays about life in the English countryside, creating a home and workspace, the works of Louise Bourgeois, Françoise Sagan, Chekhov's "Three Sisters," and others.
