Rachel Cusk (born 1967) is a Canadian-British writer, author of the genre-defying trilogy "Outline" and a recipient of many literary awards. "Coventry" is a collection of articles and book prefaces written by Cusk between 2009 and 2019. The title comes... from the eponymous essay, in which the writer reflects on the English expression "to send someone to Coventry" — meaning to consign someone to oblivion and silence — and the sense of estrangement she felt from her parents. The collection includes essays on life in the English countryside, the creation of home and workspace, the works of Louise Bourgeois, Françoise Sagan, Chekhov's "Three Sisters," and more.
