The novel "Who is to blame" is a first-person narrative about the coming of age of the main character, a boy who lives with his parents on the outskirts of Rome. The family barely makes ends meet, leads a reclusive... lifestyle, and does not communicate with relatives. While there is some knowledge about the father's side of the family, the mother's past is shrouded in thick fog. However, it begins to clear when the hero visits his wealthy relatives during Jewish Passover. This meeting becomes a significant milestone in the teenager's life, bringing changes: New York holidays, the painful feeling of love, followed by a terrible tragedy and a new life in a bourgeois environment. A prestigious private school, pleasant acquaintances, and great opportunities do not, however, free the young man from anxious thoughts. Who is to blame for the misfortunes that have befallen his family? This question will torment the hero for many years. Many will be brought before the court of conscience — and first of all, he himself.
