In the first edition of the book, only tales from the Old World - Europe and Asia were included: Japanese, German, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, French, English, Jewish, and Chinese. Because true fairy tales must be ancient.

In the new edition, this geographical injustice has been corrected. Three tales from the New World have been added: Indian, American, and Colombian.
