Shelter. Book 1. Illusion

Post-apocalyptic world. People live in a massive artificial bunker-shelter. From generation to generation. The exit to the surface is mortally dangerous. "Volunteers" who periodically go out for cleaning, that is, to wipe the lenses of the external surveillance cameras, die shortly thereafter. 
Life in the shelter is strictly regulated. Caste system. If you are a porter, no one else is allowed to carry cargo from level to level. If you work on the generator supplying energy to all levels, you cannot do anything else. And especially if you work in the IT sector, the holy of holies of the system, the main supplier of information about the outside world. However, no one knows if the information provided by the sector is truly accurate, and the IT staff does not allow outsiders into their domain… 
In May 2023, the premiere of the first season of the TV series "Shelter" based on the novel by Howey (directed by Adam Bernstein and Morten Tyldum, written by Graham Yost) took place. The series was hugely popular, received high ratings and has already been extended for the second and third seasons. The book is supplemented by the author's story about how the popular TV series was filmed based on the novel.
