Herbert Wells' novels do not contain today's realities – computers, space shuttles, and hadron colliders, yet they are read with unflagging interest and will never leave the bookshelves. Whatever may be the object of condemnation in Wells' novels - the machinations of the underground slave-Morlocks, the inaction of the rich Eloi, or the illusion of omnipotence and impunity of the overconfident scientist - over the 100 years since the first publication of "The Time Machine" and "The Invisible Man," human vices and weaknesses have not changed much.
