The Austrian writer Leopold von Sacher-Masoch gained worldwide fame for his works where the main theme is the power of a beautiful and despotic woman over a weak man; at the same time, the man derives pleasure from the physical and emotional abuse inflicted by the woman (masochism).
This collection includes the author's most famous novella — "Venus in Furs" (1870), written after a severe breakup with his beloved, Fanny von Pistor; as well as stories from the cycle "Demonic Women".
