Live and Remember

Valentin Grigoryevich Rasputin (1937—2015) was a Russian writer, one of the most famous representatives of "village prose". His name is widely known both in Russia and beyond its borders — the author's books have been translated into many languages of the world.
In the novella "Live and Remember", the writer tells a controversial story of a soldier whom everyone considers a deserter, showing the tragedy and extreme degree of imperfection during wartime.
The short story "French Lessons" describes the story of a boy from a poor village who came to the city to study. The French teacher becomes his mentor and friend, helping him survive during hungry days and regain faith in his own abilities.
