The War of the Worlds. The Invisible Man

The English writer Herbert Wells gained worldwide recognition for his science fiction novels and stories, becoming one of the founding figures of the science fiction genre. In his time, his work captivated the imagination of his contemporaries and continues to amaze new generations of readers to this day. It is astonishing, but much of what Wells wrote more than a hundred years ago has become a reality. Modern researchers of his work claim that the predictions of the fantasist have come true almost eighty percent of the time. However, for Wells, it is not so much the technical innovations themselves that matter, but their impact on society. He was one of the first to foresee the social changes of the future: globalization, the technocratic revolution, the boom in the development of information technology, as well as the consequences of these phenomena.
