His main work - the cycle of novels "In Search of Lost Time" - was created by the French writer Marcel Proust (1871-1922) over a period of fourteen years, until the very end of his life. In this monumental creation, which is called both a novel-symphony, a novel-cathedral, and a novel-river, the author managed to combine the grandeur of construction with an unparalleled subtlety of perception of the world, presenting a fundamentally new type of artistic reflection that became one of the most significant discoveries in 20th-century art. In this edition, "In Search of Lost Time" is published in the classic translation by M.N. Lyubimov, with the last, seventh volume translated by A.N. Smirnova. The structure of the work allows for different ways of reading: each of the books simultaneously represents both a link in the chain of the entire narrative and an autonomous creation.
