Fragments of the Past

Andrea Oliver thinks she knows everything about her mother. Laura has never kept secrets from her: she lives a quiet and happy life in the small coastal town of Belle Isle, works as a speech therapist, and gets along with... all the neighbors. At least, that’s how Andrea has always known her – calm, caring, and cheerful. But everything changes when they are brutally attacked in a café. Laura does something her daughter never could have imagined – she calmly deals with the attacker. Can Mom really be capable of such composure and cruelty? As if she has become a completely different person. And indeed she has. For almost thirty years, Laura has been hiding from her former self, lurking in the hope that no one would ever find her.
