Before becoming a world-famous author, L.M. Alcott (1832—1888) worked as a nurse during the Civil War, fought against slavery, and was one of the first participants in the women's suffrage movement. She looked at the world and wrote about it... as she lived — with faith in the future, with love and compassion for people.
