The Eightieth Degree

The marine geologist Lida works at the Research Institute in Saint Petersburg, and one day she embarks on a months-long expedition to the Arctic to study the ocean floor. She has to establish a daily routine in a small cabin on a huge ship, among unfamiliar and often not so closely-knit people. The very stay here is perceived as an ordeal and a challenge, and the most routine actions become a daily adventure.
"The Eightieth Degree" is a story of human strength and weakness, the ability to remain oneself and adapt to circumstances: during the expedition, the reader, along with the protagonist, will realize that one does not completely exclude the other.
