In 2005, the autobiographical book by Vera Pavlovna Frolova "Look for me in Russia" was published. Released in a modest print run of 500 copies, the book immediately became a bibliographic rarity: the solid volume presented to readers the diaries that young Vera kept in German captivity from 1942 to 1945. "I was 17 years old when the suburb of Leningrad, Strelna, where I was born and studied in school, was occupied by German-fascist troops. And in the spring of 1942, the Nazis took me and my mother to Germany, where we became 'ostarbeiter', in other words, 'Eastern slaves'..." — Vera Pavlovna wrote in the preface to the first edition, preceding this restrained and concise retelling of painfully terrible biographical facts with a powerful human document — a testimony of an eyewitness and participant in one of the most monstrous tragedies of the 20th century. "After we were liberated by the Soviet troops in March 1945, we returned to our Homeland. My only 'trophy' from Germany was a tattered straw 'suitcase' with a batch of diary entries..." Partially written on the paper packaging from German fertilizers, these notes were carefully preserved by Vera Pavlovna throughout her life and were personally prepared by her for publication. The chronicle of four years of life in captivity made up four parts of the book "Look for me in Russia". This volume includes the first and second parts of Vera Pavlovna Frolova's diary, covering the events of 1942 and 1943.
