Not long ago on the sands of the island of Ithaca, Orestes, son of Agamemnon, executed his mother and returned to Mycenae to take the throne. Although he had no other choice, the feeling of guilt slowly drives him insane. Then his sister Electra arranges Orestes' return to Ithaca in the hope that wise Penelope will find a way to heal him away from the curious eyes of the Mycenaeans and Menelaus, the king of Sparta, who passionately wishes to claim his nephew's throne.
Caught between two insane kings, Penelope, Electra, and the loyal maidservants fight for the fate of the island in a world ruled by ruthless men, under the ironic comments of the narrator — the goddess Aphrodite.
