The novel by Yevgeny Zamyatin "We" (1921) is the first dystopia of the 20th century, translated into many languages, but published in the writer's homeland only in 1988, several decades after its creation. The protagonist of the novel "We" - a mathematician and engineer - lives in a gigantic city-state, separated by a wall from the outside world. He believes that everything here is organized correctly and rationally: people have numbers instead of names, wear identical clothing, and their lives are strictly regulated. But gradually the protagonist begins to understand that in this perfectly organized society, there is no place for freedom and love.
