Walter Scott is one of the greatest writers in world literature, a historian who revived long-gone eras, and a connoisseur of human hearts. The novel “Ivanhoe” transports the reader to medieval England: a young knight, returning from the Crusades, must defend his honor and win the love of the beautiful Lady Rowena. The action of the novel “Quentin Durward” takes place in France in the 15th century, during times of long wars and court intrigues, and tells about the adventures of a Scottish archer from the guard of the French king.
